Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia Silver

As Sony Ericsson's first foray into the world of Windows Mobile, the X1 Xperia is real landmark phone, combining the raw power of Windows with the sheer beauty and user-friendliness of Sony Ericsson. With a features list longer than an actual human, it really is the ultimate smartphone!

Sometimes, an alliance is formed, that is completely unexpected, and sets the world alight... and when it happens, it requires a longer write-up here than usual, simply because it's so groundbreaking. That's precisely what has happened, here, as, for the first time ever, Sony Ericsson have joined forces with Windows Mobile, to produce what can only be described as the ultimate smartphone. Say hello to the mind-blowing Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia.

Arc Slider

Sitting in a gorgeous metal body, the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia features a unique 'arc-slider' design, which sounds more complicated than it is. Essentially, the back portion of the phone, where the QWERTY keyboard is, is curved, so that when you slide open the phone, it changes the angle you view it at, as well, tilting the screen to make it eminently easier to view. No matter whether you have the slide open or closed, though, there are a massive number of options to control the phone. You have a a brilliant 3 inch touchscreen (and it's widescreen). You have a QWERTY keypad. But perhaps coolest of all is the fact that nestling amongst the navigation keys, near the display, is a little black pad. Believe it or not, that's actually an optical mouse pad, making the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia work EXACTLY like a mini laptop!

Software Breakthrough

After you've finished ogling the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia's hardware (granted, that may take you a while), you get the chance to take note of how powerful the software is, on it. Essentially, you'll get a brand new incarnation of Windows Mobile, version 6.1, which in itself would be great. However, Sony Ericsson have combined it with their own 'panel navigation' interface (as you can see in the photo of the phone), which gives each of the home screens a panel, which you just press on to start that application. It's just stupendously intuitive and fun to use! It only makes the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia even more alluring!

Needless to say, no smartphone is whole without a massive list of cool features... To be frank, the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia is crammed with more features than just about anyother phone that's come our way! So, you get a 3 megapixel camera, it has GPS plus sat-nav (something you WILL find useful), full Office functionality, email, full internet, instant messaging... well, you can see it's an expansive list by anyone's reckoning! There is very probably something for everybody on the phone, and if it doesn't benefit you, we can only presume you haven't turned it on yet! How excited is the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia making us? Let's sum it up simply: this might very well be the single best phone we've EVER seen!
